As I read article after article, it is so easy to get confused on what is the best way to eat, exercise, think, relax, and in general be healthier. I am finding it harder to believe what I read or even what the doctors tell me. They so often contradict each other or even themselves.
I have decided that it is truly up to me to decide what is best for me. Everyone has advice for me, but some times i find that two doctors will say totally different things. And heaven knows reading articles in books, magazines, or on the internet will lead you to all most always finding opposite views and research, so it is hard to know what to trust.
I have decided that I will trust myself most. I am the one living in this body. Next I will trust test that tell me what my actual amounts of things in my body are, not just ones that indicate that there might be a problem maybe. Doctors are people too and not gods, so I will listen to their advice, but understand that I have read more" cutting edge" articles than they probably have time to read for themselves. The world is changing fast in medicine, but I really am starting to feel that the solution is take another vitamin, drug, or treatment. And this bothers me, it leaves me feeling used as a test subject. So many things that were wonderful 30 years ago, are seeming to have bad long term effects. I will do what I can to say as healthy as I can without spending my whole life worrying about each little thing. For me, that saps the joy out of living.
Each of us is different, so my belief is that there is no one solution right for everybody.
Some of the things that make sense to me are;
1. eat a healthy diet, free from as much chemical and preserves as possible
2. move your body
3. sleep well
4. relax and find things to enjoy in life
5. have friends and communicate with them often
6. keep as positive attitude as possible
7. enjoy nature (even those cute animal videos that are all over)
8. continue to learn and grow
9. Touch is important; loved ones, pets, massage, etc. (humans seem in the most part to need connections)
10. like yourself (better yet come to love yourself)
These are my ten focus things.
I am not saying don't take meds you need, but be sure you really need what you take. I have quit taking all of my supplement except a calcium with D3 that is recommended as my D vitamins test low and a have a little thinning is my lower back bones. Be sure you understand what you are taking, why, and how it could interact with other meds and supplements or even foods. Also when is the best time to take them so your body gets the most out of what you take.
There is no easy answer too how to be the healthiest you can be, but you live in your body, pay attention to how you feel and what you feel. You are your own first line in health!
